• E-mail virus and spam protection
• Technical support

The only drawback with dial up internet lack of speed. Dial up Internet would not be the best solution for those who view content such as videos and music, as this takes up a tremendous amount of bandwidth. For viewing e-mails and web pages, though, dial up Internet is enough for most needs.

For dial up internet, speeds are about 30 Kbps to 56 Kbps. By contrast, cable Internet service downstream (web surfing, downloading files, getting email, etc.) speeds can theoretically reach 30 Mbps downstream and 5 Mbps upstream (sending photos or email attachments). In general, the higher the speed, the higher the cost of service.
